In Punjab, Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP alliance posted victory again combating incumbency and other factors. SAD won 56 seats and its ally BJP 12 seats taking their tally to 68 in the 117 member assembly.

Congress has got 46 and others three. SAD leader Sukhbir Singh Badal has announced that Prakash Singh Badal will be Punjab Chief Minister again.

A combine meeting of Shiromani Akali Dal, Bhartiya Janata Party legislature is scheduled in the afternoon same day. A notification for the formation of 14th Punjab Assembly will be issued today by Election Commission.
