The 38th SAARC Standing committee today endorsed the proposel for South Asia Forum , Charter of Democracy and gave its go ahead for the first meeting of Governing Board of the South Asia University which will chose its first President . A number of initiates in the health , education , food security , Saarc Delopment Fund and SAFTA were discussed at its concluding session today in Thimpu Bhutan Today. Speaking to AIR correspondent covering the event Director General SAARC Pawan Kapoor said that 250 students are expected to be enrolled in the university from the academic session starting from July and four new courses will be introduced these. These are masters in Sociology, International Relations, Law and Biotechnology . He said that the endeavour is to make it a world class university.The Standing Committee which comprises Foreign Secretaries from the member nations also endorsed the Indian proposal for the formation of the South Asia Forum. The idea behind this forum is to bring under one roof the representatives from the government, academia and the industry under one roof to enhance economic integration within the SAARC region. A steering committee will be formed soon and its first meeting will be held before the next SAARC summit in Male.
