The Foundation of SAARC Writers and Literature (FOSWAL) will organize a three-day SAARC Folklore & Heritage Festival in Chandigarh from tomorrow. A three-day folklore academic seminar will also be held at the UT Guest House during this period. FOSWAL, an apex body of SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation), is the only organization in eight countries including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives and Afghanistan, legally authorized to hold cultural programmes under the SAARC banner and logo. The event is being supported by Ministry of External Affairs and Chandigarh Administration. Over 200 writers and artists from South Asian countries will showcase their folklore traditions in this festival .The main aim of this festival is to encourage those talented artists who are languishing for want of resources and government support.
