SAARC CECs' meeting to begin from Saturday in Dhaka

A two day meeting of the Chief Election Commissioners of the SAARC countries is scheduled to take place in Dhaka beginning from Saturday. <br/><br/>The Bangladesh Election Commission is hosting the regional meeting on ‘Cooperation of Election Commissions in the South Asia Regions’ which is aimed at building a forum for exchange of information on innovations and experiences among the Election Commissions. <br/><br/>India’s Chief Election Commissioner Navin Chawla is expected to reach Dhaka on Friday to participate in the conference along with the Chief Election Commissioners of Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Pakistan, Bhutan, Maldives. <br/><br/>Briefing reporters in Dhaka today about the conference, the Secretary of Bangladesh Election Commission M Humayun Kabir said the conference will focus on building an institutional framework for co-operation between the Election Commission along with sharing of experiences from the recent elections held in the member states.
