SA chucks again; NZ in semi-final

New Zealand have stormed into the semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup. In the third quarter-final of the tournament at Mirpur in Bangladesh today, the Kiwis knocked out strong contenders South Africa with a stunning 49-run victory. Chasing a modest 222 to win, South Africa were all out for 172 runs in 43.2 overs. Earlier, the Proteas restricted the Kiwis to 221 for eight in their 50 overs. Kiwi bowler Jacob Oram who claimed four wickets for 39 runs was declared Man of the Match. The coveted trophy has again eluded South Africa who have now failed to win a match in the knockout stage of the tournament for the fifth time in a row. In the fourth quarter-final encounter of the Cricket World Cup, England take on co-hosts Sri Lanka tomorrow. The Day-Night Fixture will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.All India Radio will broadcast live commentary on the match. The commentary can be heard on Medium Wave and FM Gold channel from 2 P.M. onwards.
