S-W monsoon seen vigorous after delayed onset

After its delayed onset in the northern part of the country, the Southwest Monsoon has been vigorous over Assam and Meghalaya and Sub Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and active over Bihar. During the last 24 hours, rainfall occurred at most places over the north-eastern states, the hilly parts of West Bengal and Sikkim, Jharkhand and Andaman and Nicobar Islands besides Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu and at a few places over the western Himalayan region, western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Gujarat, parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka and Orissa. However, the weather remained totally dry in western Rajasthan.

According to the Met Department, over the next two days, rain and thundershowers would occur at most places in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, northeastern states and Andaman and Nicobar Islands besides Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Vidarbha, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu and Lakshadweep.

During the next 24 hours, rainfall would occur over the Western Himalyan region but decrease thereafter. Rainfall may occur at a few places in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh, eastern Rajasthan, Gujarat, western Madhya Pradesh, Marathawada, Maharashtra and interior Karnataka.
