After hitting Delhi three days ahead of schedule, the South-West monsoon will further advance over some parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat. The Met Department said on Monday. It said the country has so far received 10 per cent more rains than normal. Arrival of monsoon a few days ahead of schedule in the Nothern part of India has brought an end to more than a week of humid heat and people got relief from sultry conditions. Due to the south-west monsoon, Delhi and many places in Punjab and Haryana were lashed by rains for the third day today. The maximum temperatures have dropped sharply between 2-10 degrees Celsius below normal after the rains. Met department 24 hours. Delhi IMD director B P Yadav said fairly widespread rain and thundershowers will occur over Western Himalayan region, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, east Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. He said widespread rains will also occur over central, east and north east India and west coast. Mr. Yadav said isolated heavy rainfall would occur over Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh during next 48 hours. In Delhi, the monsoon will remain active for a couple of days, according to the Met Department. Meanwhile, scanty rain on the second day of monsoon in the capital brought mercury several notches below normal. The maximum temperature was recorded at 34 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal for the season. The minimum temperature too was below normal by two notches at 26.4 degrees. The humidity touched a high of 95 per cent, while the lowest was 72 per cent.
