S.Sudan govt troops near rebel-held town; people flee to UN shelter

Reports from South Sudan say that troops loyal to the government of President Silva Kiir are advancing north-west towards the rebel held town of Bentiu in the country's oil producing zone.

A BBC Correspondent in Bentiu said, government soldiers are believed to be less than 25-kilometres away, causing panic among the civilian population. Thousands are fleeing and many of them are crowding into a United Nations compound.
