The External Affairs Minister Mr. S. M. Krishna is in Afghanistan capital Kabul on a two-day visit to attend an international conference in Afghanistan. He is leading a high-level delegation including foreign secretary Mrs. Nirupma Rao for the conference which will discuss improvement in Afghan security, governance and economy. <br/><br/>Mr. Krishna is scheduled to meet Afghan President and other senior officials at a dinner reception. The external affairs minister may meet US Secretary of state Hillary Clinton tomorrow to discuss the volatile situation in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region. India is the fifth largest donor for reconstruction of Afghanistan and has committed around 1.2 billion US dollars in aid. <br/><br/>Afghan government has recently launched peace process with Taliban-led militant groups which India is concerned that it may end up propping up Pakistan-backed anti-India Taliban elements back in power in Kabul. More than 70 countries and international organizations will be represented at the conference.
