S M Krishna meets Lankan President, discusses issues of mutual interest to both countries

Foreign Minister S M Krishna who is on a four day visit to Sri Lanka today had a breakfast meeting with the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa , where the two leaders discussed issues of mutual interests to both countries . Later Mr. Krishna called on the Prime Minister of Sri Lankan Mr D M Jayaratne. Before flying to Hambantota to inaugurate the Consulate office this afternoon, SM Krishna will co-chair the India-Sri Lanka Joint Commission along with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister G L Pieris. The meeting of Commission, the first since 2005, reviews the bilateral commitments by the two countries.External Affairs Minister S M Krishna, who arrived Colombo on a four-day official visit last evening, told reporters that the end of the armed conflict holds out hope that an era of reconciliation and meaningful devolution package will begin in Sri Lanka . Mr Krishna said that visit will set the momentum in that direction.
