The External Affairs Minister, Mr. S.M. Krishna arrived in Dhaka today on a three-day visit to Bangladesh. He was received at the airport by the Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni. Talking to reporters on his arrival at the airport, Mr. Krishna said that bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh are passing through the best phase in recent times with a number of new and forward-looking initiatives taken by the leaderships of the two countries following the visit of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to India in January 2010. He said, both the countries remained steadfast in their efforts to combat the scourge of terrorism. Mr. Krishna said the relationship between the two countries is at a historic juncture and he is confident that a forward-looking progressive and pragmatic approach based on understanding and co-operation can help in achieving a mutually-rewarding relationship that will bring a brighter future, prosperity and development in both the countries. Bangladesh Foreign Minister, Dr. Dipu Moni said that her discussions with Mr. S.M. Krishna will help in reviewing the progress made on the implementation of the decisions taken in the 2010 joint statement issued during Sheikh Hasina's visit to India and also help in finalizing the draft for Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh's to visit to Bangladesh in September.
