S. Korea ferry with 476 on board capsizes; 2 bodies recovered

Two bodies have been recovered from the ferry whcih capsized off South Korea. It was carrying 476 people.

An operation involving dozens of ships and helicopters is underway to rescue the passengers from the ferry that sunk off the southern coast of South Korea.

The ferry was bound for the southern resort island of Jeju and 325 passangers were students from a high school in Ansan, south of Seoul. They were on a trip to the resort of island of Jeju. The remainder of those on board were crew.

The 6,825-tonne ferry, which had sailed out of the western port of Incheon last evening, ran into trouble some 20
kilometres off the island of Byungpoong.
