Indian Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar reached Maldivian capital Male on an official visit this morning. According to the Indian High Commission in Male, the visit is a part of SAARC Yatra programme of the Foreign Secretary.<br/><br/>During the visit, Mr Jaishankar will meet the top leadership in the country and discuss security, political and economic matters of mutual concern. The visit comes at a time when Maldivian government is negotiating with the main opposition party, the Maldivian Democratic Party over the appealing against the 13-year long prison sentence of its leader, former President Mohamed Nasheed. Issues like foreign ownership of land in Maldives and investment climate in the country is also likely to be taken up in the discussions.
