South Australia has invited India to invest in the mining sector. It said a vast area, called 'Woomera', which has extremely huge deposits of Uranium, copper and gold, had been opened up for mining. According to an official release, this transpired during the meeting when a high-level delegation led by Premier of South Australia, Mike Rann called on Minister of State for Mines Dinsha Patel in New Delhi on Tuesday. They discussed co-operation between India and South Australia in the field of Geology and Mineral Resources. Australia has refused to sell uranium to India since India is not a signatory to the NPT. Mr Patel, while pointing out the similarities between the two countries, envisaged increased cooperation encompassing areas of geo-science and geo-scientific education as well as exploration and mining technology.
