Russian, Turkish jets carry out 1st joint strikes on IS terror group inside Syria

Russian and Turkish jets have carried out their first joint strikes on Islamic State terror group inside Syria. <br/><br/>Russian Defence Ministry said IS was targeted in the suburbs of the town of al-Bab, Aleppo province, where Turkey suffered heavy casualties last month battling the group on the ground. A Russian spokesman, Lt-Gen Sergei Rudskoi, said the joint action has been highly effective. <br/><br/>Russia and Turkey have become leading outside players in Syria's civil war. Al-Bab, about 20 kilometers from the Turkish border, has been the focus of a five-month Turkish campaign aimed at pushing back both IS and Kurdish forces.

President Pranab Mukherjee today unveiled the restored German car in which Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had made his great escape from his ancestral home in Kolkata in 1941 during his house arrest by the then British government. <br/><br/>Netaji had used 'Audi Wanderer W24' to escape from his Elgin Road residence to Gomoh railway station in Jharkhand to catch a train to Delhi.'<br/><br/>The car was unveiled to commemorate the 76th anniversary of Netaji's Great Escape as well as 60th anniversary of the Netaji Research Bureau (NRB) in Kolkata.'<br/><br/>The President unfurled the flag on car's bonnet. West Bengal Governor Keshri Nath Tripathy as well as Sugata Bose, Netaji's grand-nephew and also a Trinamool MP, were present at the event.'<br/><br/>The great escape is known as "Mahanishkraman" which depicts the story of leaving the house, its preparedness and the consequences, the President said.'<br/><br/>Mukherjee also talked about undaunted spirit of Sugata's father, Sisir Kumar Bose, who was also at the wheels during Netaji's escape from Kolkata.<br/>
