Russian President Dimitry Medvedev was conferred with the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) by the Jawaharlal Nehru University on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Medvedev said, modern leaders have a lot to emulate from the vision of leaders like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He said, the historic close ties between India and Russia have stood the test of times. He said, the world today is multipolar and Russia and India are working hand in hand to overcome the challeges being faced including regional and International security. The Russian President said, it is within the reach of Russia and India to jointly make the world a better place to live.
Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal said, the Indo-Russian ties have been cordial and have grown to a special strategic partnership.
