The 2014 Winter Paralympics were opened by the Russian President Vladimir Putin in a spectacular ceremony in the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi. The ceremony featured music, dance, special effects and fireworks. The Ukraine team has confirmed its participation in the Games after apprehensions of their boycott following Russia's action in Crimea.
