The Russian President Dmitri Medvedev has left for Agra on way to Mumbai on the second leg of his two day official visit to India. He will visit Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai and interact with students and pay homage to the martyrs of Mumbai terror attack before leaving back for Moscow this evening.He had a hectic schedule in Delhi. The Russian President held delegation level talks with the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on a host of regional and international issues. He held meeting with the President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil and exchanged views with the Vice President Mohd. Hamid Ansari, External Affairs Minister Mr. S.M.Krishnaand UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi. 30 agreements in areas ranging from science, nuclear energy, culture, defence, pharmaceuticals, IT, Communications, space and other important strategic sectors were signed during his stay in Delhi. They include a contract for jointly building a fifth generation fighter jet, a pact on atomic energy cooperation besides agreements in hydrocarbon and Pharma sector. For seamless supply of cruise missiles to the Indian armed forces, BrahMos Aerospace and a Russian company also signed a protocol to ensure there are no price escalation issues during the contract period. The two countries have set an ambitious trade target of 20 billion US dollars by 2015. For this purpose they have decided to identify new areas of cooperation.In the joint statement issued after the talks at Hyderabad house the two leaders asked Pakistan to expeditiously punish all those involved in the Mumbai terror attacks. They maintained that a modern and civilized state cannot hide terrorists and should extradite them if it is interested in cooperating in the fight against terrorism.
