Russian President arrives in Mumbai

On the final leg of his two day visit to India, the Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev arrived in Mumbai just a short while ago. He was received at the Mumbai airport by Maharashtra Governor, Mr K Shankarnarayan, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar.The Russian delegation is arriving at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. In an impromptu session, the Russian President will interact with the students at the institute’s newly-constructed Convention Centre. The President will field questions from students and faculty. Around 220 students and 75 to 80 faculty members are expected to be present. There will be 350 headphones to translate what the president speaks in Russian.Later today, the President will also pay homage to the victims of Mumbai terror attack and have a meeting with some Bollywood actors and directors at Yashraj Studios.Following a red alert issued by the Central government, security has been beefed up across the city to avoid any untoward incidents during the president's visit.
