Russian Dy PM meets PM Modi

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry O Rogozin today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence and held talks on crucial bilateral issues.An official statement issued by Prime Minister's Office said, Mr Modi wanted to take the bilateral relationship to a higher level.The Prime Minister described Russia as a time-tested and reliable friend that stood with India in difficult times and a major partner in building India's defence capabilities.Mr Modi said that he looks forward to a productive, substantive and forward looking Summit with Russian President Vladmir Putin later this year.Mr Rogozin conveyed Mr Putin's greetings to Mr Modi and his desire to work with him to further strengthen and deepen the strategic partnership between the two sides. Yesterday, Russian Deputy Prime Minister met External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and decided to step up their cooperation further in the field of hydrocarbons, pharmaceuticals, coking coal and infrastructure.The two leaders also decided to increase the bilateral trade beyond the present ten billion dollars. Mr Rogozin was on a two-day visit to India.
