Russia and the United States will resume talks on the new strategic arms reduction treaty at the beginning of February. Talking to newsmen, the Russian Foreign Minister Mr. Sergei Lavrov today said the remaining issues between Russia and US will be swiftly solved when negotiations resume at the very start of February. <br/><br/>He said progress has been made in most issues at the Geneva-based negotiations. Russia and the United States have been negotiating for a replacement document to the START-1 that expired on December, last year. The START-1, signed in 1991 between the two countries obliged both sides to reduce the number of their nuclear warheads to 6,000 and delivery vehicles to 1,600.
