Russia today urged Iran to improve its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and warned of sanctions if it failed to fulfill its obligations. <br/><br/>According to a Kremlin spokeswoman, President Dmitry Medvedev told visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Russia's position on sanctions against Iran remained unchanged. <br/><br/>She said Russia still believes that Iran should have broader and more active cooperation with the IAEA and other countries, to which it should provide information on its nuclear program.<br/><br/>The spokeswomen said the international community needs to make sure that Iran's nuclear program is peaceful. But no one can exclude the use of sanctions if these obligations are not fulfilled. <br/><br/>Russia has long said it prefers to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue through diplomatic means, but the Kremlin are showing rising frustration with Iran's resistance to cooperation with the international community.
