Russian Security Council has said there is no reason not to deliver the S-300 air defense systems to Iran. The Deputy Secretary of the Russia's Security Council, Vladimir Nazarov told interfax in an interview on Sunday that Iran struck a deal on buying the S-300 systems several years ago, but there have been repeated delays over the delivery of the anti-aircraft missiles. Mr. Nazarov said this deal is not restricted by any international sanctions, because it only involves the delivery of purely defensive weapons.
