Russia and Norway on Wednesday held a joint navy drill in the Barents Sea. Interfax news agency said a big anti-submarine ship from the Russian Northern Fleet and a Norwegian destroyer participated in the Pomor-2011 exercises in the Arctic economic zone. Coast guard motor boats, helicopters and anti-submarine planes of the two countries were also involved. Marines also displayed their skills in a scenario involving the freeing of a sea oil platform and a civil vessel from terrorists and rescuing the seamen. Pomor-2011 was the third joint Russia-Norway exercise in 16 years.
