Russian strategic forces today launched an inter-continental ballistic Topol missile from the Plesetsk launching site. According to RIA Novosti news agency, the Topol RS-12M's warhead successfully hit a target in the far eastern Kamchatka peninsula some 20 minutes later. The Topol-M missile, with a range of about 11,000 km, was said to be immune to any current and future U.S. missile shield defense. The service life of Topol RS-12M has been extended to 23 years.
