Russia launches three Glonass-M navigation satellites into orbit

Russia has launched three Glonass-M navigation satellites into orbit. A spokesman for Russian Space Forces said, a Proton-M carrier rocket blasted off from Kazakh Baikonur space center with three satellites early this morning and put all the three satellites into designated orbit. The launch is aimed at increasing navigation satellites of the Glonass system, an equivalent of U.S. GPS system. Russia will send three more Glonass-M navigation satellites to orbit in November, while in December a Glonass-K aircraft will fly to the space aboard a Soyuz-2-1A carrier rocket for the first time.
