Russia: Deeping ties with India is top foreign policy priority

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin has arrived in New Delhi early this morning to attend the 13th India-Russia annual summit. During his one day visit, Mr. Putin will hold delegation level talks with Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

The two leaders will discuss specific steps to further develop the Russian-Indian strategic partnership in trade, economic, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

They will also exchange views on current issues of international and regional importance. A number of joint bilateral documents are likely to be signed during the visit. A joint statement giving details of vision for future bilateral cooperation is also expected at the end of the summit.

AIR Correspondent reports, this year India and Russia are commemorating 65 years of diplomatic relations. The trade and economic cooperation is rising between both the countries. The two countries are also in close cooperation in several international forums.

Mr. Putin said that for Russia, deepening friendship with India is a top foreign policy priority. He said, a new level of partnership can be achieved by developing business, scientific and technological and humanitarian ties with India.
