Rural Development ministry recd. over 100 complaints of irregularities on NREGA implementation

Over one hundred complaints relating to irregularities in implementation of NREGA have been received in the current year by the Ministry of Rural Development. <br/>In a writen reply to the Lok Sabha, the Minister for Rural Development, Dr. C.P. Joshi said that the complaints mainly relates to delayed payment, instances of use of funds for non-permissible activites, use of machinery, incorrect accounting, and non-issuance of job casrds.<br/><br/>The Minister said that the complaints have been forwarded to the respective state governments. Referring to the measures adopted by the Mininstry against mal-practices, Dr. Joshi said that direction has been issued to state governments for appointing Ombdusman at district level for redressal of grievances. Wage distribution through bank and post office accounts, social audits and independent monitoring by eminent citizens are some of the other measures being adopted.<br/>
