Rural Development Ministry gives away 144 awards

The Rural Development Ministry has given away 144 awards under various categories to states and other organisations in a function in New Delhi on Monday.<br/><br/>Under the 'Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)', Bihar was awarded for constructing the highest number of rural roads while Madhya Pradesh got the award for use of non-conventional construction material in constructing roads.<br/><br/>The ministry said in a statement in New Delhi that Haryana, Gujarat and Karnataka received a special prize for completing more than 95 per cent of their targets. '<br/><br/>The awards were also given to various Institutions and banks under various categories.<br/><br/>Speaking at the event in New Delhi on Monday, Union Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar highlighted the major transformation in the employment guarantee scheme MGNREGA under the Modi government. <br/><br/>He said, targets under PMAY-G and PMGSY have been set for 2019 and the government was fully committed to provide financial support to states to achieve these targets.<br/>
