The Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh has asked the UP government to recommend a CBI inquiry into alleged embezzlement of funds under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana PMGSY.

Rupees 2.4 crore were allegedly embezzled during construction of five rural roads in Sultanpur district, which fall under Rahul Gandhi's constituency.

AIR Lucknow correspondent reports, that a few days ago, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi while visiting her constituency in Raebareli, also raised the issue of funds misappropriation in the construction of rural roads under PMGSY scheme in the district and asked for constitution of a committee to find out the culprits.
