Rupert Murdoch decides to attend meeting of House of Commons

Bowing to pressure from British lawmakers and others, father-son duo Rupert and James Murdoch decided to attend the key meeting of a House of Commons committee next week to explain their position on the phone-hacking case. Earlier in the day, the Murdochs had informed the Culture, Media and Sport Committee chairman, John Whittingdale, that they will not be able to attend it, following which a summons was served on them. Rebekah Brooks, chief executive of News International and a British citizen, had agreed to appear before the committee that will be telecast live to a large audience.
