In the forex market, the rupee weakened three paise per US dollar. The domestic unit closed at 74 rupees and 90 paise against the dollar.
 
The dollar index, which indicates the US dollar's strength against a basket of six other leading currencies, fell 0.09 percent to trade at 93.68 in intra-day trade.
