The rupee today weakened 27 paise to finish beyond 74 rupees per US dollar mark. The domestic currency closed at 74 rupees and 18 paise against the dollar.
       
The dollar index, which indicates the US dollar's strength against a basket of six other leading currencies, rose 0.05 percent to trade at 94.83 in intra-day trade.
