At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee dropped 194 paise–its biggest ever single-day fall–to a lifetime closing low of 66.24 against the dollar, today. During the session, the rupee had fallen to an all-time intra-day low of 66.30 to the dollar. The rupee fell amid weak local equities, dollar demand from banks and importers, and rising crude oil prices.
