At the Interbank Foreign Exchange market, the rupee appreciated a good 35 paise, to close at 55.65 against the dollar on Thursday. The rupee rose after Reserve Bank intervention saw increased dollar selling by banks, and as investors regained appetite for domestic stocks.Earlier during the session, however, the rupee had plunged to a new lifetime low of 56.38 per dollar, on sustained dollar demand from oil importers.
