The rupee today rose by nine paise to 55 rupees 36 paise against the US dollar in early trade, on selling of American currency by exporters and banks. In the previous session on Tuesday, the local currency had gained 28 paise to close at 55 rupees 45 paise against the dollar.The forex and money markets remained closed yesterday on account of 'Guru Nanak Jayanti'.
