The rupee appreciated by 5 paise to 44.25 rupees a dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market in the morning trade today. It had ended flat at 44.30 against the US currency in the previous session. Dealers said apart from dollar's weakness, capital inflow into equities by foreign funds also kept the rupee sentiment firm.
