The rupee strengthened by 4 paise to 45 rupees 48 paise against the US dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange today.A firm opening in the equity markets supported the rupee sentiment. Besides, dollar weakness against other Asian currencies and the euro overseas also supported the rupee. The rupee had ended at a seven-week low of 45 rupees 53 paise a dollar in the previous session.
