The rupee today rose by 20 paise to 54.27 against the US dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange, Forex market on selling of the American currency by exporters and banks. Forex dealers said, besides dollar selling by exporters, a higher opening in the domestic equity market also supported the rupee.
