The Indian rupee appreciated by 20 paise to 45.48 rupees against the US dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange today. It had closed at 45.68 rupees against the greenback in the previous session. Forex dealers said besides dollar weakness against other Asian currencies and the euro overseas, a higher opening in the stock market supported the rupee sentiment.
