The rupee appreciated by 17 paise to 49 rupees 10 paise against the dollar in early trade today on increased foreign fund inflows, amid firm equity markets. The domestic currency had closed flat at 49 rupees 27 paise against the US currency in the previous session on Friday. The forex and money market were closed yesterday on account of Mahashivratri.
