In the forex market, the rupee strengthened by 21 paise to close at 73 rupees and 45 paise against the US currency.
 
In intra-day trade, Brent crude prices were trading around 43 dollars and 40 cents per barrel while WTI crude prices were around 41 dollars and 10 cents per barrel.
