The rupee today strengthened 22 paise against the US dollar. The domestic currency closed at 75 rupees and 33 paise per dollar. The dollar index, which indicates the US dollar's strength against a basket of six other leading currencies, fell 0.08 percent to trade at 98.92 in intra-day trade.
