At the Interbank Foreign Exchange market, the rupee had gained 55 paise, to 61.91 against the dollar, a short while ago. Earlier, in morning deals, the rupee had strengthened 31 paise, to 62.15 against the US currency, as the dollar weakened against other major overseas currencies. Increased dollar selling by exporters, and a higher opening in the domestic equity market also supported the rupee.
