The rupee strengthened by 38 paise to 44.30 rupees a dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market in early trade on Wednesday, on surging capital inflows into equities by foreign funds. Besides, dollar's weakness overseas, as it declined near 8-month low against the euro also supported the Indian rupee.
