Rupee rises by 22 paise against US dollar

The Indian rupee appreciated by 22 paise to 46.73 a dollar in the early trade on Friday on firm opening in stock markets and the US currency's weakness against other Asian currencies.The domestic currency had closed 6 paise higher at 46.96 in the previous session. Forex dealers said the rupee strengthened against the US currency largely on the back of a strong rally on the stock market and subdued dollar overseas.
