Rupee plunges further to hit record low of 65 against US Dollar

The rupee today plunged further by 89 paise to hit new record low of 65 rupees against the US dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange market. The fall was attributed to the heavy demand for the US currency from banks and importers amid a weak opening in the domestic equity market.
The rupee had lost 86 paise to close at 64 rupees 11 paise after dipping to 64 rupees 54 paise against the dollar in the previous session.
Meanwhile, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange fell 76 points to 17,829 in early morning trade
