The Indian rupee shot past the 53 rupees per US dollar-mark in early trade today, losing 8 paise to 53 rupees 5 paise per dollar amid foreign capital outflows and dollar gains against the euro and other rivals overseas.The rupee had closed 5 paise higher at Rs 52.97 per US dollar on the Interbank Foreign Exchange yesterday on fag-end dollar-selling by some banks and exporters.
