The rupee today weakened by 26 paise to 62 rupees 40 paise against the US dollar in early trade due to appreciation of the greenback against other currencies overseas. The rupee had gained 36 paise to close at 62 rupees 14 paise against the dollar yesterday after banks and exporters sold the US currency as it weakened overseas.
