The rupee gained 9 paise to 46.21 a dollar in early trade at the Foreign Exchange market on Friday on increased capital inflows by foreign funds into equities. The rupee had closed higher by 24 paise at 46.31 against the dollar in on Thursday's trading. Dealers said fresh capital inflow into equities by foreign funds provided support to the rupee.
